Maybe 843 meant "the race"? A race is a thing that someone may or may not finish.

Sadly, I know what this is about. said texter was wondering if Jeff Gordan finished the race on Sat night which was held at Lowe's Motor Speedway. He had some car issues that night. I freely admit to my NASCAR obsession.
