There's Wed masses and, for Protestants, Wed. is usually church group night. I used to do Theater on Wed. nights at my church, in fact.

Wed. is the big Bible study night for the mega Babtist church in our town. Our smaller church has choir practice every Wednesday night. So yes, many (Protestant) church people consider Wed. night as much an obligation to be at church as Sunday morning . . .

Schools and often businesses in the Bible Belt don't plan stuff on Wednesday nights, because they'll be conflicting with church :)
