I think you really missed the kicker here: this person has THE MOB interested in this kitty. Does that mean the kitty is on the lam? Is this kitty working for the Vitello family? Does the mob like kittens all of a sudden (I think recall a certain scene of Marlon Brando playing with a kitten in his lap in "The Godfather)? Of is this a warning in case Leila doesn't take the kitten? Or maybe "kitten" is slang for, I dunno, broads.
