Look, if your mom has already put your name on a bouquet of birthday flowers to Leila, you might as well just claim credit. You're not morally obligated to be like, "Hey, Leila, I know it seems like I remembered to buy you a birthday present-- BUT ACTUALLY I DIDN'T."
